Give in to the Green Monster
For the past two weeks I’ve been faithfully riding the Green Monster Smoothie band wagon. I heard about Green Monster Smoothies on Pinterest and after doing some research, I stumbled upon one blogger who listed all of the great benefits of these yummy drinks. I needn’t have read her list. Her skin complexion alone sold me on the Green Monster Movement.
So, I blended up my first veggie/fruit smoothie, and I was hooked. They are super easy to make, so they are perfect for my early morning rush. And they give you a little kick in the AM – a healthy dose of vitamins for a uber-healthy start.
From what I can tell, Green Monsters smoothies can be a combination of just about any ingredients, but always include spinach. Depending on what you mix up, the spinach is virtually undetectable because of it’s mild flavor.
I found my favorite recipe on Pennies on a Platter. Then I adapted it a bit and developed this, my favorite combo:
Green Monster Smoothie
1 Handful baby spinach
3-4 slices of frozen mango
3-4 frozen pineapple chunks OR small handful of frozen blueberries
1/2 of a banana
1/2 – 1 Cup rice milk
Throw it in the blender. Mix and be strong like Popeye.
